Soprano Jane Spencer Mills and pianist Ian Scarfe will perform two songs that were originally commissioned by soprano Jill Morgan Brenner as part of her "I sing words" project and initiative. I wrote two songs based on the poetry of David Thomas Lloyd that mix fact and fiction about John Glenn as well as Harry Houdini.
Details from the website:
Modern songs with a fanciful bent: There will be fairies, griffins and scarecrows; John Glenn and Houdini make a magical appearance. Cats pad back and forth and rain washes over the whole.
The music is new and melodic, evocative and lovely. Come meet the composers and hear what will be the new cannon for contemporary art song!
